The Tamborine Mountain Chamber of Commerce invites all members to attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, 26th March, at the Eagle Heights Hotel.
This is a vital event for our business community, where we reflect on the past year’s progress and elect the leadership team that will guide the Chamber through the coming year.
Action Required: To ensure we have adequate seating for all attendees, please book your ticket in advance via the Chamber website.
In accordance with Section 25 of the Constitution, all current Management Committee members will retire from their offices at this meeting. All positions are open for nomination, and retiring members are eligible for re-election.
If you wish to serve on the Management Committee or nominate a fellow member, please adhere to the following constitutional process:
Should there be insufficient nominations prior to the deadline, the Chamber will accept nominations from the floor during the meeting.

As we wrap up the year, the Tamborine Mountain Chamber of Commerce would like to extend warm Christmas wishes to our members, partners, volunteers, and wider business community. December’s newsletter reflects on a year of connection, growth, and collaboration, while also looking ahead to exciting opportunities in the new year.
The Chamber Committee shared a heartfelt Christmas message, thanking members for their continued support and involvement throughout 2025. From successful events and new initiatives to welcoming new members, this year has highlighted the strength of our local business network.
We also heard from the Tamborine Mountain Visitor Information Centre Manager, who acknowledged the incredible dedication of volunteers and local tourism operators & businesses. Their passion and local knowledge play a vital role in creating memorable experiences for visitors and showcasing everything Tamborine Mountain has to offer.
This month’s update included news that The Closet On Main, a much-loved women’s fashion boutique, is currently for sale, presenting a unique opportunity for someone to step into an established local business with a loyal customer base.
We also announced an exciting new collaboration between the Chamber and the Tamborine Mountain Garden Club, focused on beautifying Gallery Walk and enhancing the precinct for locals and visitors alike.

The Chamber will conduct their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 12th March at Eagle Heights Hotel. Members are welcome to arrive from 5:00pm for a 5:30pm start. Please book a ticket for seating purposes. Please email the Chamber here for more information about becoming a Committee Member.
Here’s the format for the AGM, in accordance with the Constitution Section 25 –
At each Annual General Meeting of the Chamber, all current Management Committee Members shall retire from office, but shall be eligible upon nomination for re-election to the Management Committee.
The election of officers and other members of the Management Committee shall take place in the following manner: –
(a) any two (2) Members of the Chamber shall be at liberty to nominate any other Member to serve as an officer or another member of the Management Committee;
(b) the nomination, which shall be in writing and signed by the Member and the Member’s proposer and seconder, shall be lodged with the Secretary at least Fourteen (14) days before the Annual General Meeting at which the election is to take place
(c) a list of the candidates’ names in alphabetical order, with the proposers’ and seconders’ names, shall be sent to all Members eligible to vote at the General Meeting at least seven (7) days immediately preceding the Annual General Meeting;
(d) balloting lists shall be prepared (if necessary) containing the names of the candidates in alphabetical order, and each Member present at the Annual General Meeting shall be entitled to vote for any number of such candidates not exceeding the number of vacancies;
(e) should, at the commencement of such meeting, there be an insufficient number of candidates nominated, nominations may be taken from the floor of the meeting.

Chamber members braved the elements to gather at The Aerie. Jackets were peeled off and cheeks were glowing, not sure if it was from the cosiness of the room or the delicious mulled wine, celebrating X'mas in July!
Celebrating X’mas in July with guest speaker Cr Amanda Hay
The July Member Event was held at The Aerie. Celebrating X’mas in July with mulled wine and X’mas attire was on the agenda with approximately 20 guests in attendance. The event was enhanced by Cr Amanda Hay’s presence, who contributed significantly with her insightful discussion. Her comprehensive discourse covered a wide range of topics. She expressed satisfaction with the cultural shift in SRRC under Mayor Sharp’s leadership, noting the gradual filling of vacant positions.
Concerns about the lack of adequate waste disposal facilities, particularly recycling bins, as well as the frequency of recycling collections were raised. The consensus was that the increase in the community’s recycling efforts sometimes leads to recyclables being disposed of in general waste due to lack of space. Cr Hay said that she would support additional bins being placed in public places where they were needed.
The matter of excessive speed and noise from certain motorcycles on Main Western Rd was also raised, with the suggestion of installing cameras to deter such behavior. At a previous Chamber meeting, QPS had attended and presented the surveillance system used at Logan, something that could be beneficial for the Mountain. Additionally, the topic of tourism and public facilities was raised leading to Cr Hay giving an update on the SRRC property on Gallery Walk, the development of the car park and refurbishment of the amenities. The development application of 30 Kidd St as a retirement facility with 166 Units together with the road usage and off-street parking was also discussed.
Finally, the ‘X’mas in July’ video was presented to the attendees, serving as an uplifting reminder to continue spreading the event by sharing the video on Facebook (see below).
The next member event will be on the 21st of August at the Grand Chameleon. It will be another Business Education Event featuring presentations on Cybersecurity, Social Media Management, and Business Estate Planning.
Committee poised to continue supporting businesses and ready for a busy year ahead.
The Chamber AGM was held on 13 March 2024. The following Committee is ready to hit the ground running! Geoff Baldwin will stay on as President and Judi Minnikin as 2IC. Anne Hardy as Secretary and newcomer Jackie Keys as Treasurer. Committee members have also had a few changes. Krystle Divertie and Theresa Poots staying on and being joined by Janice Smart and Dwayne Chanter. Welcome to our new Committee members and congratulations to those remaining in their roles taking on another year, and a special thank you to Justine Boyle, Tony Chapman, and Carol Lange departing the Committee.

The priority of the new Committee will be to ensure an aligned purpose for all businesses. Noting that the key priority of the Chamber is to advocate for business success irrespective of what individual opinions may be about whether the Mountain needs business. Clearly, a significant number of residents have family and friends who primarily rely on the success of Mountain businesses for their daily survival to remain as residents on the Mountain.
Strong Chamber representation is crucial for unity, achieved through a robust membership. The Chamber’s accomplishments, such as the response to the Christmas crisis, demonstrate its worth. This response involved a successful radio and video campaign, informing thousands that the Mountain was back in business. Such outcomes are possible due to a collective focus and effort, resulting in a synergistic effect. The Chamber promotes local business – buy local, sell local, support local.

Christmas Opening Hours for Businesses
It is less than 6 weeks to Christmas on the Mountain! Businesses should by now have decided on their opening hours and which days they will be closed over the Christmas period. One of our brilliant volunteers from the Visitor Information Centre suggested that we keep a list of restaurants and cafes, including their trading hours, as we have already had our first enquiry about a reservation for Christmas from a visitor. Consequently, to assist all businesses over the Christmas period, business owners are invited to complete the survey below and your Christmas information will be collated at the VIC and posted on the Visit Tamborine Mountain and Chamber of Commerce websites. This is an area of inadequate communication for visitors to the Mountain. Hopefully this initiative will go some way to improving opening hours communication for our visitors over this period.
Christmas Member Event
This year the Chamber Christmas party will be held at Cedar Creek Lodges on Thursday 14th December; tickets will be available soon.
All business owners are welcome to join the Chamber and attend this exciting event and, until the start of the new year, membership fees have been waived. Contact the secretary for more information.
A public vote now decides the winner! We need your help!
Congratulations Tamborine Mountain! The Queensland Tourism Industry Council has named Tamborine Mountain as one of the finalists in the Top Tourism Town Awards 2023. However, there is a second stage to the judging and the Mountain needs YOUR HELP! A public vote is now open and will close on Wednesday 24th May 2023. The next Chamber event is for all employers with vacant roles and potential employees. An interactive speed dating evening giving candidates opportunities to meet, socialise and interact with employers. Included in the evening will be a module on business leadership. Could improvements to your leadership style reduce your employee turnover? This event will take place on Wednesday, 24th May, 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Backroom of North Stores on Main St. Attendance at the event is free, contact the secretary for a ticket.
