Eagle Heights Bakery has been a cornerstone of the Tamborine Mountain community for over 40 years, known for its fresh, organic baked goods. Philip, the bakery’s enthusiastic owner previously learned the craft in his parents’ bakery during the 1980s. He attributes much of his success to the local community, who have been incredibly supportive over the years.Philip’s bakery stands out for its 20-year-old sourdough culture and a wide variety of organic breads. The sourdough took six months to develop and didn’t become active until six years later, contributing a unique flavor derived from mountain-filtered springwater and organic flours.
Popular items include the carrot cake and a vanilla slice recipe from Philip’s father, focused on real ingredients. Eagle Heights Bakery prioritizes local and sustainably sourced ingredients, primarily from Queensland and some from Western Australia and South Australia. Philip’s days often extend up to 20 hours, driven by his passion and the support of the local community and his staff.
The bakery has a strong local customer base, and while there was consideration of moving to a more tourist-centric location, Philip chose to prioritize local residents. Philip enjoys a close connection to the community, though his long hours leave little time for leisure activities like bushwalking or exploring the local glow-worm caves. Philip prides himself on providing quality service and loyalty, staying open through natural disasters as long as possible. His greatest enjoyment comes from the social interactions and lifelong friendships forged through the bakery.
Eagle Heights Bakery is located at 25 Southport Ave, Tamborine Mountain QLD 4272, and is open seven days a week from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, including public holidays.
